Team Jeep emerged as overall winners at the Jeep Wrangler Southern Night Rally 2015. Nicknamed the ‘journey through the wilderness of the South’, the Southern Night Rally is considered the most challenging annual TSD Rally in Sri Lanka. The 455km course, which ran through the rough roads of Matara, Hambantota and Galle districts, consisted of 41 checkpoints. While Aloka de Silva driving a Jeep Wrangler Sport emerged overall third runner-up, Nalin Premarathne driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee emerged fourth runner-up at the event. The Jeep service crew provided assistance to Team Jeep at various points with four back-up vehicles accompanying the drivers.
Diesel & Motor Engineering (DIMO) was the main sponsor of this year’s Southern Night Rally, the only authorised distributor for Jeep vehicles in Sri Lanka. Commenting on the success of Team Jeep, Gahanath Pandithage, CEO of DIMO, said that DIMO and Jeep were part of the gruelling Southern Rally for the second consecutive year and the victory re-established the fact that Jeep is the ultimate off-road vehicle for real outdoor enthusiasts.
