SLT-MOBITEL has achieved a remarkable financial turnaround in Q1 2025, reporting a Group Profit After Tax (PAT) of 2,001 million rupees, up from 156 million rupees in Q1 2024.
This significant improvement highlights the company’s operational resilience and its vital role in advancing Sri Lanka’s digital future.
“This is more than a financial milestone—it is a reaffirmation of our role as a resilient and indispensable pillar of Sri Lanka’s digital future,” said Dr. Mothilal de Silva, Chairman, SLT-MOBITEL.
The Group saw a strong resurgence, with SLT reporting a 369.9 percent increase in PAT to 1,344 million rupees, driven by a 380 percent rise in PBT and a 60.3 percent jump in operating profit, fueled by growth in enterprise, SME, and broadband segments, alongside effective cost management. Mobitel (SLT-MOBITEL Mobile) excelled with revenues of 11.8 billion rupees, supported by high demand for mobile data services. Its EBITDA grew by 28.5 percent with a 30 percent margin, and operating profit surged 392 percent, turning a Q1 2024 net loss into a profit of 477 million rupees. Recognition as Sri Lanka’s fastest 4G network for 2024 further solidified its market leadership.
Once considered for divestment, SLT-MOBITEL is now a key player in the country’s digital transformation, showcasing the impact of strategic leadership and operational discipline in delivering national value.
SLT-MOBITEL’s success hinges on its dedicated employees—engineers, technicians, and customer service teams—who adapt to new technologies while ensuring service continuity. Their efforts have been crucial in expanding broadband access and supporting enterprise clients. Additionally, collaborations with technology partners have accelerated the implementation of AI solutions, cloud platforms, and advanced connectivity, enabling the company to maintain its competitive edge in digital services. At the heart of this ecosystem are the millions of Sri Lankans who trust SLT-MOBITEL. Their loyalty and feedback have been instrumental in shaping the company’s evolving services, from mobile data to enterprise connectivity.
“This success belongs to all of us,” Dr. de Silva emphasized. “To our employees who give their all every day, to our Board whose vision guides us, to our technology partners who empower us, and to our customers who believe in us—thank you. Your collective strength is what fuels SLT-MOBITEL’s journey forward.”
With Q1 laying a strong foundation, SLT-MOBITEL is now accelerating its investment in transformative technologies. The Group is expanding its Fibre and 5G infrastructure, deploying AI-driven customer solutions, and exploring new digital services to meet evolving customer needs.
“Sri Lanka deserves nothing less than world-class connectivity,” Dr. de Silva affirmed. “We are building a future where SLT-MOBITEL stands tall—not just as a telecom provider, but as a symbol of national progress.”
