Raniyo (Pvt.) Ltd., in association with Union Locks and Hardware setup Sri Lanka’s first specialized Union Design Centre (UDC). Located in Rajagiriya the UDC is an exclusive facility for locking systems. With the aim of providing the best locking solutions for both domestic and commercial purposes. The UDC concept came about as a result of Union’s takeover by Assa Abloy, a world leader in locks and door security solutions. The UDC helps to guard against the ‘fake trade’ and the ‘grey trade’ which according to Ragunathan, Managing Director, Raniyo is the flourishing counterfeit trade which ranks second internationally to drug trafficking.
Security Products UK Ltd., as an integral part of the larger global giant Assa Abloy is now in the process of setting up several UDCs in Europe and Asia. Many are operational in the Middle East, India, Russia, and Hong Kong with Sri Lanka being the latest addition. The Sri Lanka UDC will be one of the 95 UDCs worldwide which will provide all assistance to professionals, contractors, developers, dealers and direct customers.
