National Savings Bank (NSB) celebrated Sinhala and Tamil New Year by promoting both financial savings and environmental sustainability through impactful initiatives.
This year, NSB continued its tradition of gifting a plant sapling to customers conducting New Year transactions on April 15, 2026—a symbol of the bank’s dedication to thrift and environmental responsibility. The Avurudu Transactions were held at the Head Office Branch, led by Dr. Harsha Cabral PC, Chairman NSB. The event was attended by Rohana Bandara Weerakoon, Acting General Manager/CEO; Deputy General Managers, Gamini Jayaweera and Nalika Wijesinghe; Assistant General Managers, Janaka Herath, and a gathering of customers. This initiative reflects NSB’s belief that saving for the future and caring for the environment go hand in hand, encouraging the public to save while helping the planet. NSB’s Agro Forestry initiative also promotes tree planting and sustainable agriculture, empowering communities to protect the environment. Amid today’s environmental challenges, NSB continues its commitment to these efforts.
