Peiris succeeds R M Damitha K Ratnayake, who was func- tioning as the Acting GM/CEO of NSB. Peiris is a professionally qualified and a sound banker with a proven track record. He is a master of his trade and has to his credit an illustrious bank- ing career of over 32 years at NSB. Since joining the Bank as a Management Trainee in 1988, he has been serving in many strategically important spheres including: Branch Operations, Peiris has been instrumental in successfully implementing key projects in the Bank in his capacity as DGM (Operations), shouldering the responsibility of achieving the corporate ob- jectives of the Bank. He has also immensely contributed towards establishing the International Banking Unit of the Bank and bringing it to the present stand- ard. Further, he has the credit of being the first Manager of the Ja-ela Loan Center, which was inaugurated under the Loan Center concept of the Bank in the year 2007. With a First Class (Hons) degree in Physical Science from the University of Colombo, he is a Member of the Association of Professional Bankers, as well as the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management and the Sri Lanka Institute of Training and Development.
