Tritel Services (Pvt.) Ltd., a subsidiary of Sri Inderahjy Holdings Malaysia, will introduce a new payphone system in October. The new payphone system will operate on cards and coins. Cards of Rs 100, 200 and 500 denominations will be issued. Coins of Rs 1, 2 and 5 value can also be used. The new payphone system will be installed primarily in the Colombo, Galle and Kandy districts and an estimated 30,000 payphones will be installed. Tritel’s strategy is to make their new payphone system the most reliable and cost efficient payphone system in the market.
