Michelle Boutique Hotel in Balapitiya opened its doors amidst a grand ceremony graced by Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development on the invitation of Dr Saman Weerasinghe, Chairman of Michelle Holdings and Ranjaka De Mel, Managing Director. Other distinguished guests present included Chandima Weerakkody, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Sajin de Vaas Gunawardena, MP, Alexander Karchawa, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka and Ton Sinh Thanh, Ambassador of Vietnam to Sri Lanka.
Equipped with 16 suites – deluxe, super deluxe, rose petal and infinite – Michelle is geared to accommodate guests from all walks of life. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art gym, a spa with Balinese rituals and other facilities will complete a novel experience for all guests.

It is a great pleasure and privilege for me to welcome all of you on behalf of Michelle Holdings.
We started this project two years ago and finally we are proud to present it to you and to the Sri Lankan tourism industry as an exclusive boutique hotel with a unique and beautiful property set amidst magnificent natural surroundings.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your kind presence here and we highly appreciate it.
This is our pilot project and we hope our great efforts have produced good results. I would like to mention that our team was able to achieve what was expected. We hope to open a few more hotels within the next few years. We have already identified some locations and are now finalising the details of the projects.
Hon Minister, ladies and gentlemen, as a group of companies we understand our social responsibilities and always try to help the people in the area. Just to mention, as an example, we have negotiated with the administration of the Balapitiya Base Hospital, to carry out ward repairs and purchase medical equipment for the Hospital. This work will commence from March this year. We are planning to continue such support in the future.
