January 2006 marked an important event for Sri Lanka as Ceylinco Homes International (Lotus Tower) Ltd., announced the appointment of M/s Maga Engineering as the main contractor to construct Ceylinco Celestial Residencies and the Hyatt Regency Colombo. Once built, it will change Colombo’s skyline and be the tallest building in Sri Lanka.
Estimated at approximately Rs. 1 Obn, the 45-floor investment will be a mixed development of Ceylinco Homes International (Lotus Tower) Ltd. as the developers while Ceylinco Leisure Properties Ltd. will be the owning company of Hyatt Regency Colombo. Among their many achievements, M/s Maga Engineering have been responsible for the construction of some prestigious developments such as the Apollo Hospital in Colombo and ‘Barnes Place Residencies; known to be Ceylinco’s flagship apartment development. The landmark venture, Ceylinco Celestial Residencies, a luxury apartment development consists of 176 one to four bed roomed units and a limited number of penthouses, Pad mini Karunanayake Deputy Chairperson of the Ceylinco Homes Group states, “Everyone wants to be a part of this historic development. We have received a very positive response with more than 60% of the apartments already reserved:’ Design Consortium Ltd. has been invited to design the building along with M/s Nawaloka Construction Company who was awarded the piling contract. Using new piling technology and mobilized machinery, keeping with international piling requirements and standards, progress is on schedule.
