LB Finance reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and youth development with the conclusion of its nationwide LB Little Heroes ‘Save The Planet’ Children’s Art Competition, held alongside a special Environment Day celebration.
The initiative was designed to inspire environmental awareness among future generations by providing young participants with a creative platform to express their ideas on protecting the natural environment. The competition received an overwhelming response from across the island, attracting more than 6,700 entries from aspiring young artists.
Following a highly competitive selection process, 66 finalists representing three age categories advanced to the grand finale, where they showcased their artistic talent, creativity and interpretation of environmental themes before a distinguished audience. In the five to nine age category, Miheli Nethumsa Bandara secured first place, while Gangana Gavesh Wijesinghe emerged as the winner in the 10–14 category. Dinithi Isanka claimed first place in the 15–18 age category. All finalists received valuable prizes, including bicycles, school bags, educational book sets, trophies, and certificates. Each finalist was also presented with an LB Little Heroes Children’s Savings Account, encouraging financial responsibility from an early age. The competition was judged by Sri Lankan artists and art educators Pulasthi Ediraweera, Aruna Keerthi Gamage, and Thamara Damayanthi. The event featured an art exhibition, tree-planting initiatives, educational programs, and entertainment activities, creating an enriching experience for children and their families while reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship.
Prof. Rangika Halwathura attended as Chief Guest, joined by Marlon Perera, Senior Deputy GM of LB Finance, and other distinguished guests. The success of the competition reflects LB Finance’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability, community engagement and youth development while inspiring young Sri Lankans to play an active role in protecting the environment for future generations.
