HNB concluded Nana Savi Mehewara, a nationwide initiative launched to support children whose education was disrupted by Cyclone Ditwah and the subsequent flooding. Through its network of over 250 branches, HNB mobilized employees, customers, and local communities to collect books, stationery, and other essential learning materials for students affected by the disaster. Collection points across the country enabled widespread public participation, helping children return to school with the resources they needed. Damith Pallewatte, MD/CEO, HNB, said the initiative reflects the Bank’s commitment to supporting communities in times of national need, emphasizing that ensuring continuity in education is an investment in the resilience and future of the next generation. Educational supplies were distributed through existing school-level partnerships to ensure assistance reached the students affected by displacement and disruption. HNB said the program will continue to support communities as recovery efforts progress.
