In recognition and appreciation of outstanding support for the year 1994-95, Cathay Pacific Airways presented their top passenger and cargo agents with Cathay’s prestigious Gold, Silver and Bronze awards at the Colombo Hilton recently. Whilst Cathay’s coveted “Passenger Gold” was won by Gabo Travels (Pvt) Ltd. for the second successive year, the Silver and Bronze awards were presented to Hemas Travels (Pte) Ltd. and Mackinnons Travels respectively.
As the best performing agent, Scanwell Freight (Pvt) Ltd. clinched Cathay’s elite “Cargo Gold” whilst Dart Express won the silver and Roton Vander Freighting Ltd., the bronze.
Appreciation certificates were also presented to Messrs George Steuarts Travel Intl Ltd., N-Car Travels & Tours Ltd., Cey-Can Travels & Tours (Pvt) Ltd., V M S Travels Ltd., Superlink Travels (Pvt) Ltd., Sparklink Travels (Pvt) Ltd, and Finlays Travels for their loyal passenger sales support.
Cargo appreciation certificates were presented to Sky World Express Pvt Ltd., Concord Express Lanka Ltd., Rical Express Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., Union Air Transport and Hecny Transportation (Pvt) Ltd. for their loyal support.
Ms Clare Garside, Cathay’s Country Manager said that “it was most encouraging to record that Cathay Pacific has successfully created a niche in passenger and cargo markets, particularly with an online operation of less than three years and this would not have been possible without the unstinted support given by all our passenger and cargo agents”. She also said that Cathay is committed to Sri Lanka and the industry and from March this year “we introduced our brand new Airbus A330 aircraft in the new CX livery on the Colombo/Bangkok/Hong Kong route, doubling our cargo capacity as well as offering our passengers greater comfort and safety”.
Also present on the occasion was Mr R L Juriansz, Chairman of James Finlay & Co (Col) Ltd., General Sales Agents for Cathay Pacific in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Mr Alex Fernando, General Manager, GSA, Mr Saman Peiris, Passenger Sales Manager and Mr Prasad Hewagama, Cargo Sales Manager, Ms Ruha Jasinghe Perera, Airport Services Manager and Ms Rapti Rutnam, Reservations & Ticketing Manager.
The event which was scheduled in November’95 was cancelled in keeping with the government’s request for austerity.
