Jupiter Trading and Tamil NaduNewsprint & Paper Limited (TNPL), Chennai held their annual customer meet in Colombo in December. Jupiter Trading represents TNPL in Sri Lanka. A Velliangiri, Director (Finance), V Push pa raj, Chief General Manager and RV Krishnan, Deputy General Manager (Paper) from TNPL as well as Dudley Thambinayagam, Chairman/Managing Director and Rexy Perera, General Manager (Marketing) of Jupiter Trading attended the event. Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Paper Limited is the largest paper mill at a single location in India and is the world’s largest bagasse based integrated paper mill. It consumes about one million tons of bagasse every year thereby saving around 40,000 acres of forests annually.
The company is accredited with ISO 14001 certification for effective environment management and ISO 9001 :2000 certification for designing, manufacturing and marketing. TNPL, which exports 20% of its production, has received awards from CAPEXIL (sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce in India) for its outstanding export performance for seven consecutive years. TNPL is currently embarking on a mill development plan, which will increase pulping capacity and paper production, and will be completed in 2007. With this investment, the company is confident of serving the Sri Lankan and other export markets with more value-added products in larger volumes.
