Dinesh Weerakkody Chairman of Commercial Bank, recently launched a book titled ‘In The Best Interest of My Country’, which is his fourth publication after a gap of nearly 17 years with the last volume being published in 1996. Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, Chamal Rajapaksa, was the chief guest at the launch of the book while G L Peiris, External Affairs Minster, Ranil Wickremesinghe, Leader of Opposition, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor of Central Bank, Dr Saman Kelegama, Executive Director of the Institute of Policy Studies, Ahmed Ali, the founder of HR Cornucopia and members representing the Government, Opposition and the business community also graced the occasion.
Encompassing 850 pages, the book includes articles in four chapters covering the areas of Politics, Economics, Human Resources and Management. A total of 249 articles published in various newspapers and magazines from 1993 to present cover the pages in which 54 articles are based on economy and business, 44 articles on politics, and the rest are on human resource management. The book also includes photographs from Dinesh Weerakkody’s personal photo album.
The book attempts to confront the issues present in the various sectors while addressing key issues that the country has faced in the recent years. The proceeds of the book is to be donated to the Aquinas University College so that it might contribute to nurture the younger generations’ educational aspirations.
