
People’s Leasing and Finance celebrated its 30th anniversary by participating in a Special Market Opening Bell Ringing Ceremony at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), marking three decades of empowering individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses across Sri Lanka through innovative financial solutions.
Representing PLC at the ceremony were Professor Ajantha Samarakoon, Chairman, Sanjeewa Bandaranayake, Chief Executive Officer/General Manager, members of the corporate management team, and distinguished guests. Representing the Colombo Stock Exchange were Chairman Dimuthu Abeyesekera, Chief Executive Officer Rajeeva Bandaranaike, and senior CSE officials. Addressing the gathering, Sanjeewa Bandaranayake highlighted the significance of the milestone, stating that celebrating 30 years of excellence reflects the Company’s enduring commitment to transparency, sustainable growth, and value creation for all stakeholders. He noted that over the past three decades, PLC has evolved into a trusted financial partner for millions of Sri Lankans while continuing to drive innovation and contribute to the nation’s economic development. He also recalled that the Company’s listing in 2011 was one of the largest initial public offerings (IPOs) in Sri Lanka’s capital market history.
Speaking at the event, Rajeeva Bandaranaike, CEO of the Colombo Stock Exchange, congratulated PLC on its achievements and acknowledged its significant contribution to Sri Lanka’s financial services sector. He noted that the Company’s IPO raised seven billion rupees and was among the largest listings on the CSE Main Board. He further commended PLC’s consistent growth and innovation in delivering diverse financing solutions to Sri Lankan customers. The bell-ringing ceremony is part of a series of initiatives organized by People’s Leasing and Finance to commemorate its 30th anniversary, celebrating its journey of growth, service excellence, and contribution to the development of Sri Lanka’s financial sector.
