Fulfilling its role as the national telecommunication service provider, the SLT group established connectivity at Meeyagala, a remote village located in Uva, Sri Lanka. Following the request from the Venerable Kahawe Maithree Nayaka Thero from Meeyagala, the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, SLT and Mobitel visited the location and observed that there was no connectivity and people in the village were facing a lot of difficulties in connecting with their loved ones. As per the direction given by Oshada Senanayake, Director General, Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, SLT Mobitel immediately established connectivity within a week by putting up a repeater solution and plans were initiated to provide highquality voice services and highspeed 4G broadband services for the area within three weeks. The ceremonious opening of the site was graced by Oshada Senanayake, Director General, TRCSL, senior representation from both SLT and Mobitel along with the Government officials. Further, SLT and Mobitel handed over computers and other necessary equipment’s to help support the educational activities of children in the Meeyagala area. Lalith Seneviratne, Group CEO of SLT and Mobitel commented, “As the nation’s telecommunication provider, we are privileged to fulfill TRCSL’s request in providing extended coverage to all Sri Lankans.
