Nihal Perera also stated that as a pioneer and legend in the travel and tourism sector for over five decades serving the public and private sector, Sparklink Travels will continue to satisfy its customers’ demands for outbound and in-bound travel and looks forward to overcome the present downturn in the industry due to COVID-19 setback for travel worldwide. He further stated that they expect to bounce back once airports reopens and the pandemic subsides with the excellent action taken by the Government under the leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa together with the active action taken by the Tri Forces, and officials of the Ministry of Health to make Sri Lanka a safe destination to ensure safety for travel.
He emphasized that the hotel sector should extend special packages to Sri Lankans to travel for leisure within the country as the Government has relaxed internal travel. With the continued appointment of Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister of Tourism and grant of 3.7 million US dollars to promote tourism under the US AID, certainly augurs well for the development of tourism in Sri Lanka.
