S ri Lanka Telecom, nation’s ICT solutions provider has taken a monumental step, transforming the country into a Smart Sri Lanka. SLT launched the ‘National Digital Roadmap’ with the esteemed participation of President Maithripala Sirisena
SLT National Digital Roadmap is a large scale ICT infrastructure development project, which is planned to be implemented under the pillars of Smart Security, Smart Government, Smart Health, Smart Buildings, Smart Utilities, Smart Environment, Smart Transportation, Smart Agriculture, Smart Money, Smart Education, Smart Industry, Smart Media, Smart Sports and Smart Living. These pillars of digitization aim to cover all facets and processes of the nation’s socio-economic, infrastructural and administrative operations
A large number of projects are to be initiated under each sector with a wide focus on empowering not only the Government’s Smart initiatives and the industrial landscape, but also on transforming the lives of the people by providing them with cutting-edge digital solutions. SLT has stepped forward in introducing these initiatives with the support of the Group’s mobile arm Mobitel, Peo TV and other subsidiaries. SLT has laid the foundation for a Smart country, expanding its network over the years through land, sea and air with the establishment and consistent upgrade of the National Ground Network, Global Network, and National Wireless Network. Together with the Smart Workforce strengthened by Smart Infrastructure, SLT is ready to serve the country and its citizens, increasing the value of experiences as a Smart nation.

“We are ready to work in line with the Government’s digital transformation initiative, 2020 Digital Sri Lanka that aims at transforming the country towards a creative, knowledge based society through digitally empowered citizens,” stated P G Kumarasinghe Sirisena, Chairman, SLT.
K A Kiththi Perera, CEO, SLT commented, “It requires cutting-edge infrastructure solutions for a project of this proportions. SLT is equipped with the technologies and seamless connectivity that makes it possible.” Nalin Perera, CEO, Mobitel, spoke of the value proposition that Mobitel brings in: “We amalgamate one technology to another, complementing existing technologies, thus creating a network that propels the country forward.”
A large number of invitees including Ministers and other dignitaries graced the event, witnessing the remarkable contribution made by SLT in achieving the national goal: a Smart Sri Lanka.
