Sri Lanka Telecom successfully concluded its role as the theme attraction sponsor at EDEX 2008, the country’s leading educational and careers fair, held at the BMICH.
The objective of the fair was to provide Sri Lankan youth with choices, options and opportunities in post secondary education, skills development, vocational and technical training leading to gainful employment, through EDEX. This novel theme attraction, which showcased the myriad facets of emerging futuristic, digitised lifestyle sponsored by SLT, enabled visitors to attune their mindsets to the limitless new possibilities with regards to technology.
The SLT stall was the showpiece of the event. Designed vibrantly with a youthful theme, it offered visitors a wealth of information on the latest and most sophisticated technology available on the market today, while providing unlimited entertainment, giving them a total technological experience like no other.
It featured the use of e-Commerce, e-Learning, social utility networks such as Facebook and chatting mechanisms such as SLTnet Messenger, iChat and MSN Messenger. It also featured Mobitel 3.5G and the use of mobile telephony on a 3.5G network, broadband services as well as wireless fidelity (WiFi).
Visitors also had the opportunity to have interactive hands on sessions with the digital technology as well as to blog, write, compose poems, upload videos onto YouTube, create digital art, make one’s own music or relax while listening to radio channels from around the world. They could also watch IPTV or visit the Mobitel corner for a one of a kind experience, featuring 3.5G HSPA technology – the first in South Asia
