Following a strong financial recovery, SLT-MOBITEL, Sri Lanka’s National ICT Solutions Provider, has become a key enabler of the nation’s digital transformation. Once considered for divestment, the company achieved a profit after tax of 4.28 billion rupees in the first half of 2025, reversing a previous loss of 323 million rupees. Revenue rose to 55.2 billion rupees, driven by disciplined management and operational excellence. SLT-MOBITEL plays a pivotal role in digitalizing Sri Lanka’s public sector through the Lanka Government Network (LGN), which connects government agencies to enable e-governance and data sharing. The Lanka Government Cloud (LGC) complements this effort by providing scalable infrastructure supporting AI, big data, and smart governance services.
Dr. Mothilal De Silva, the Chairman of SLT Group, stated that SLT-MOBITEL has continually invested in digital infrastructure, including fibre expansion and 4G/5G technologies, with strong support from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL). He emphasized that this remarkable turnaround—anchored in operational excellence—positions the company to spearhead national digital initiatives and invest in next-generation technologies for sustainable growth and world-class connectivity.
SLT-MOBITEL is preparing to launch Sri Lanka’s 5G network following successful trials and strategic spectrum acquisitions. The rollout will deliver ultra-low latency and massive connectivity, revolutionizing industries such as smart cities, IoT manufacturing, autonomous systems, and real-time applications— placing Sri Lanka at the forefront of global digital innovation.
Supporting a thriving digital economy, SLT-MOBITEL provides scalable solutions for startups, SMEs, enterprises, and government institutions. Through initiatives like SME Xcelerate, affordable cloud services, and cybersecurity tools, it drives business transformation.
To ensure digital equity, SLT-MOBITEL connects schools via the School Fiberisation project, expands rural access with Gamata Sanniwedanaya, and promotes inclusion through Digital Literacy Programs and the National AI Expo and Conference 2025. SLT-MOBITEL targets carbon neutrality by 2040, supported by renewable energy projects and reinforced by strong governance under its Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy.
