Wellawatte Branch of People’s Leasing and Finance (People’s Leasing) has embarked on a project to upgrade the livelihood of the registered Three-Wheeler Operators in Wellawatte. A Pilot project commenced at the Wellawatte Branch of People’s Leasing with the collaboration of the Wellawatte Three-Wheeler Drivers Association and the Wellawatte Police.
Three-wheeler is a widely used transportation mode in urban and rural parts of the country. An identification Card was issued to each three-wheeler operator who is registered with Wellawatte Three-Wheeler Drivers Association. This initiative’s objectives were to help prevent crimes committed using three-wheelers and create professionalism for the three-wheeler operators.
During this event, “QR Code” awareness was created among three–wheeler operators, which it creates an opportunity to enhance their occupation while reaching digitalization.
The inaugural ceremony was held in the presence of Priyanka Wimalsena, Chief Manager – Operations of People’s Leasing, as the Chief Guest of the event. K. Chandrasekaran Branch Manager of People’s LeasingWellawatte Branch, Officer in Charge (OIC) – Chief Inspector Administration L.A.U. Naotunna and Officer in Charge (OIC) – Sub Inspector Traffic W.P. Prasantha of the Wellawatte Police Station were also present at this event. L. Rohana Perera, convener of “The organization is the true voice of professional three wheeler association leadership,” and J. P. Swarnasiri, President of Wellawatte Three Wheeler Drivers Welfare Association, also participated.
