In order to expand production capacity for dairy and coconut-based products, Nestlé Lanka laid the foundation stone for a new manufacturing facility in Pannala, Kurunegala.
President Maithripala Sirisena graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Gamini Jayawickrama Perera, Minister of Sustainable Development and Wildlife; Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Disaster Management; Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Finance; P Harrison, Minister of Rural Economic Affairs and Heinz Walker-Nederkoorn, Ambassador for Switzerland in Sri Lanka and Maldives were also present at the event.
Whilst congratulating Nestlé on their new investment, Minister Ravi Karunanayake recognised Nestlé‘s long presence in the country. He commended the company’s contribution towards strengthening the local economy by empowering local dairy farmers, which has led to import substitution.

To recognise the efforts made by Nestlé’s dairy and coconut farmers, a farmer felicitation was held parallel to the foundation laying ceremony.
