Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, the National Mobile Service Provider awarded 26 lucky winners of the Mobitel registration promotion along with each having an accompanying companion, travel to Singapore.
The company undertook a comprehensive exercise to register its customers in August 2008 in order to support national security. With the aim of accelerating the pace of Mobitel customer registrations, the company introduced a promotion in April 2009 that offered all existing and potential Mobitel subscribers the opportunity to win a trip for two to Singapore by simply registering their Mobitel SIMs with proof of user details.
The registration drive was a success with over a million subscribers registering or re-registering their Mobitel SIMs since August ’08.
At the prize giving ceremony in Hilton Colombo, all the winners were handed over their air tickets and briefed on their trip and stay in Singapore. The event showcased an array of local talent to entertain the winners.
The lucky winners travelled to Singapore last month (June 2009) with a three nights’ hotel stay inclusive of tours to various tourist attractions and sights across the city.
Guest of Honour at the occasion were Leisha De Silva Chandrasena, Chairperson Sri Lanka Telecom and Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel and other special guests present were Wijesiri Ambawatte, Director Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, and Suren J Amarasekera, Chief Executive Officer Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel.
