With over 20 years of international hospitality experience, Christoph has worked with some of the world’s leading luxury and lifestyle hotel brands across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. He began his career with Four Seasons and later held senior roles with Park Hyatt, Shangri-La, and Marina Bay Sands, among others. Known for combining commercial strength with a deep passion for people and place, Christoph focuses on creating high-performing hotels that remain authentically connected to their local communities. His commitment to guest-centric innovation, destination-inspired design, and community engagement has consistently delivered elevated experiences and sustainable results.
I’m truly excited to be in Sri Lanka and to work with the talented teams at Anantara and Avani Kalutara,” Christoph said. “Both resorts have distinctive personalities: one is a peaceful, Sir Geoffrey Bawa–inspired luxury sanctuary, while the other is a vibrant lifestyle beach escape. My priority will be to strengthen their individual character while deepening their connection to this beautiful destination.”
Nicholas Smith, Vice President Operations – Asia at Minor Hotels, added: “We are delighted to welcome Christoph to this pivotal role in Sri Lanka. His global experience and commitment to thoughtful innovation will be invaluable as we continue to enhance the distinct positioning of our resorts. With a focus on destination awareness and sustainability, Christoph is well-placed to lead the next phase of growth for our properties in Kalutara.”
Nestled between the Indian Ocean and the Kalu River, Anantara Kalutara Resort is a serene sanctuary where contemporary luxury meets coastal charm, shaped by the architectural vision of late Geoffrey Bawa. Adjacent to Avani Kalutara Resort, the resort offers a vibrant island atmosphere with laid-back elegance for families and leisure travelers. Together, the two resorts form a unique riverside and oceanfront haven on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast.
