Suntel recently announced its ownership of the largest CDMA network in Sri Lanka. Last year, in keeping with its vision to provide every home with a telephone, Suntel deployed its CDMA network. Within eight months Suntel CDMA has been able to cover 80% of the population in 22 districts. With over 155 base stations around the island, Suntel CDMA has a population coverage of over 90% in Colombo, Galle, Gampaha, Matara, Kandy, Rathnapura, Kurunegala, Kegalle, and Hambanthota, while in Kalutara, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Punalam, Badulla, Monaragala, Ampara, and Vavunya districts population coverage is over 80%. In Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee, 70% of the population is covered. Jaffna and Mannar remain the only districts not covered by the Suntel CDMA network. Due to the swift growth of its customer base, the company was able to record a year-on-year revenue of 35%.
