Senior Lecturer from the Department of Sociology at University of Colombo, Jagath Wellawatta has been newly appointed as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Insurance.
Jagath Wellawatta’s corporate experience spans across a spectrum of diverse fields. He served as the Chairman of the State Mortgage and Investment Bank (May 2010 to January 2015) and was also the former Chairman of National Child Protection Authority (April 2007 to May 2010). He has also served as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (December 2005 to March 2007).
His academic excellence includes Master of Philosophy in Sociology from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Master of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts (Hon) degree from University of Colombo. He is also currently reading for his PhD in Sociology at the University of Colombo affiliated to Deakin University, Australia.
Anil Kumara Meegahage, Anil Koswaththa, Nishantha Dayananda as well as Pubudu Wimalarathne also have been appointed to the board.
While K A Vimalenthirarajah Treasury Representative will continue to serve as a Director on Sri Lanka Insurance’s Board.
