HNB has committed 100 million rupees to the Rebuild Sri Lanka Fund, reaffirming its support for national recovery efforts following the severe impact of Cyclone Ditwah. Damith Pallewatte, MD and CEO stated that the bank stands firmly with people across the country during this challenging period. As a home-grown institution, he noted that HNB maintains strong ties with the communities it serves, many of whom—including customers and employees—have been directly or indirectly affected by the disaster.
The contribution reflects HNB’s commitment to supporting both immediate relief measures and long-term recovery initiatives, recognising that rebuilding requires sustained and collective effort. Complementing this financial support, HNB has launched a nationwide disaster relief initiative as the first phase of a broader, coordinated response.
As part of the initiative, the bank donated over 2,500 essential relief and nutrition packs, handed over to the Sri Lanka Army for transparent distribution in affected areas including Kandy, Gampaha, Kaduwela, and Hanwella.
