Feel Negombo 2009, a three-day festival will take place from December 11 to 13, 2009 along the Negombo beach stretch. Feel Negombo 2009 is a family oriented festival that offers a range of sports and cultural activities. The activities include water sports, snorkelling, paint ball, fishing and kids activities, street parade, drum sensation and much more. The senior citizens’ programme will be a special part of the festival. This will provide an opportunity for Sri Lankans abroad to pay for a day trip for their parents living here. The organisers will provide transport, buffet and various activities to entertain them. After spending an entire day in Negombo, they will be taken back to Colombo.
Feel Negombo will feature a number of International artists including DJ Acee (Switzerland, Hip Hop), DJ Miss Match (Australia, RnB/Reggae), DJ Eric Carver (Canada, House), Manipuri Drummers, Bikram with Naadbrahma.
“The main objectives of this event are to promote Negombo as a destination for family and youth travellers (flash packers) and enhance economic development by creating employment and opportunities surrounding tourism in the region. We also want to showcase Sri Lankan hospitality and milieu along with establishing an international event in Negombo, which is recognised in the international and local calendar of events. Feel Negambo will help build strong and productive partnerships with regional stakeholders and local communities in Negombo,” said Faiszer Musthapha, Minister of Tourism Promotion.
