The Manudam Uyana Green Garden, comprising valuable trees and plants, was established in commemoration of the people who lost their lives in the Easter Sunday bombing
The garden in Diwulapitiya, Pinnakele was declared open by Ajith Manapperuma, Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment. The project has been implemented jointly by the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment, Department of Forest Conservation, Sri Lanka Army and National Savings Bank.
Jagath Gamanayake, Senior DGM and Lal Karunathilaka, DGM– Marketing have joined the event representing NSB. Mapa Pathirana, State Secretary for the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment, Latheefa P Liyanage, Director – Forest Resources, P A G S Nandakumara, Conservator of Forests and distinguished guests including high ranking officers of the Sri Lanka Army were also present
This project was launched in parallel to World Environment Day. A program to plant trees along the Megoda Kelaniya Road by NSB under the guidance of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara was also held. NSB has launched the NSB Agroforestry Project to contribute to environmental conservation.
