Dialog Axiata has announced the commercial launch of Dialog 5G Ultra, marking a major milestone in Sri Lanka’s digital transformation and entry into the 5G era. As the first operator to commercially enable 5G in the country, Dialog now operates over 220 live 5G sites, serving more than 1.5 million subscribers, reinforcing its leadership in next-generation connectivity.
The launch follows Dialog securing 100 MHz in the 3500 MHz band and 200 MHz in the 27 GHz band at the 5G spectrum auction conducted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL). By leveraging mid-band spectrum for wide-area coverage and millimetre-wave spectrum for ultra-high-capacity use cases, Dialog 5G Ultra delivers ultra-fast speeds, low latency, and enhanced network performance, supporting advanced consumer, enterprise, and industrial applications.
Supun Weerasinghe, Group CEO, Dialog Axiata, stated that 5G is a critical enabler of innovation, productivity, and digital inclusion. He reaffirmed Dialog’s commitment to investing USD 100 million over the next two years to further expand 5G connectivity nationwide, while thanking the TRCSL and the Government of Sri Lanka for a transparent spectrum allocation process.
Dialog’s 5G rollout builds on its strong legacy as the first operator in South Asia to introduce 2G, 3G, and 4G, as well as its leadership in early 5G trials. To mark the launch, Dialog has introduced a range of 5G-enabled devices, data plans, and content offers. Dialog provides Sri Lanka’s widest 5G roaming network, spanning 76 countries through partnerships with 155 global operators, delivering a world-class mobile experience at home and abroad.
