Plans to build a new 200-room teaching hospital in the premises of the Institute of Technological Studies at a cost of Rs 560 million are being discussed. An agreement to this effect was signed recently by Dr E M S Edirisinghe who will be the chairman of the proposed Oasis Hospital (Pvt) Limited.
The main purpose of this project would be to provide training to nurses and other personnel in the medical field. The proposed project is expected to attract a clientale from the SAARC region says the project spokesman.
Several reputed medical institutions have been approached to provide training in the field of medicine and allied services through a technical collaboration agreement.
Facilities offered at the hospital will range from VIP suites to the best medical care. The hospital will initially offer ninety private rooms and ten VIP suites equipped with televisions and telephones along with attached bathrooms. Furnishing will be of international standards.
A radiology department will be housed for both in-house and out patients. An operating theatre equipped with the latest in electrosurgical machines is also on the cards.
This new teaching hospital is expected to boost the Sri Lankan health care industry.
