Rotaract District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives, the Island’s counterpart of the Rotaract movement, the youth focus organisation of Rotary International began the Rotary year 2017-18.
The 27th Rotaract District Assembly saw the installation of the new District Rotaract Representative (DRR), Rtr PP Anuradha Senanayake and her Committee, marking a celebratory start to the upcoming year under her leadership.
The Rotary year 2017-18 is of immense importance to Rotaract District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives. It is also a rare occasion where a Lady District Representative will be taking over the reins of the movement, which is continuously growing with enthusiastic youth interested in Community Service, Personality Development and Leadership.

DRR Rtr PP Anuradha Senanayake is a past pupil of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, a graduate of University of Colombo and a law graduate of University of London. She is set to take her oaths as an Attorney-at-Law and currently serves as an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Sociology, University of Colombo. She is the very representation of the skilled and talented youth who are a part of Rotaract Sri Lanka and Maldives movement. She served as the President of the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts in 2013-14 and has since grown to be one of the most experienced Rotaractors in Rotaract District 3220.
Under DRR Rtr Anuradha Senanayake’s guidance, the year 2017-18 is themed “Engage Rotaract – Redefine Friendship”, showing an increased focus on fellowship and networking that are an integral part of Rotaract. Thus, the activities of all Rotaract Clubs that are part of District 3220 will revolve around this theme. As always, the movement will continue to organise inspirational initiatives in areas of Community Service, Leadership Development and Professional Development.
The focus areas of fellowship, reach-out, innovation, empowerment, nourishment, discipline, sustainability, hope, inspire and passion will play a major role with regard to the initiatives organised by the District 3220 this year. Significance will also be attached to the empowerment of those differently-abled, disaster risk reduction, media objectification, mental health, law & order with programmes spread across Sri Lanka to engage Rotaractors for a brighter future.
