The Commercial Bank of Ceylon felicitated Dilip Das Gupta, Senior General Manager of the Bank’s Bangladesh op- erations, in appreciation of his services. An eminent banking professional in Bangladesh, Das Gupta is widely-recognized for his contributions to the devel- opment of the industry and has more than 50 years of experi- ence in the banking industry. In 2003, he was made a Knight of the National Order of Merit, France’s highest civilian honor, ComBank fetes Dilip Das Gupta for his outstanding contribu- tions in the field of interna- tional banking.
Das Gupta is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Minority Welfare Trust, ap- pointed by the Government of Bangladesh, a member of the National Executive Committee of the ENT and Head, Cancer Hospital and Institute of Dhaka and a founder member of two high schools at Anwara, Chittagong. He also serves as an Advisor to the Smoking and Intoxicant Prevention Human Service Association in Dhaka.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon entered Bangladesh in July 2003 with the acquisition of the Bangladesh operations of Credit Agricole Indosuez (CAI), its first ever acquisition of a banking operation.
