LogiPark International (LPI), a fully-owned subsidiary of John Keells Holdings (JKH) and sister company of John Keells Logistics (JKLL), a key third Party Logistics Services Pro- vider (LSP) in the Sri Lankan market, embarked on commissioning its integrated logistics center at the Muthurajawela Logistics Zone.
The ceremonial event was held in the presence of Krishan Balendra, Chairman, JKH, Gihan Cooray, Group Finance Director and Deputy Chairman, JKH, the Sector Committee of the JKH Transportation Group, Chair- man and the Board of the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation (SLLRDC), Board of Directors of the BOI, the management teams of LPI and JKLL and other dis- tinguished guests.
With an estimated initial investment of US$ 14 million and a footprint span in excess of 230,000 square feet, the LPI integrated logistics center is set to be operational by end-March 2020. It is expected to create over 40,000 CBM of inventory holding capacity with a handling capability exceeding 300,000 CBM a month. In addition to multi-industry storage cham- bers, the center will also have multi-tiered value-added ser- vice (VAS) areas catering to a broad range of industry verticals including FMCG, apparel, elec- tronics, chemical, lubricants, telecommunication, perishable and general trading.
Senath Jayathilake, Chief Executive Officer, LPI and JKLL, speaking at the event, stated, “With Sri Lankan in- dustries and commerce inten- sifying its integration into global supply chains, LogiPark International’s world class integrated logistics center will be strategically positioned to offer a One-Stop-Shop logis- tics service platform for both Sri Lankan and international players to drive supply chain efficiency and capability.”
