
Bank of Ceylon (BOC) Maldives celebrated its 45th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its contribution to the Maldivian banking sector and its continued commitment to supporting economic growth and financial inclusion.
A special customer felicitation ceremony was held to honor long-standing relationships with key customers and business partners, attended by Kavinda de Zoysa, Chairman, Bank of Ceylon; Y.A. Jayathilaka, General Manager/CEO; G.A. Jayashantha, Acting Senior Deputy General Manager/Head of Global Markets; Harischandra Hewage, Chief Manager, Overseas Branches Division; Manjula Herath, Country Manager, BOC Maldives; and members of the branch staff.
BOC Maldives forms an integral part of Bank of Ceylon’s international network, along-side its operations in London, Chennai, Seychelles, Malé, and Hulhumalé. Its strategic presence in the Maldives enables the Bank to facilitate trade, investment, foreign currency transactions, and broader regional business activities within the country’s tourism-driven economy. The anniversary celebration reflected the Bank’s appreciation for the trust and confidence of its customers while reaffirming its commitment to building strong, long-term partnerships. Addressing the gathering, senior officials highlighted the branch’s 45-year journey and its role in strengthening economic ties between Sri Lanka and the Maldives. They also acknowledged the invaluable support of customers, regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and employees who have contributed to the branch’s success.
A key highlight was the announcement of BOC’s upcoming Internet Banking services in the Maldives, further advancing its digital transformation. The Bank also reinforced its pioneering role, having been the first in the Maldives to introduce ATMs.
