
Dialog Axiata has committed 420 million to support the Government’s Rebuilding Sri Lanka initiative, aimed at accelerating recovery following Cyclone Ditwah. The commitment will support critical recovery efforts in the healthcare and education sectors, benefiting communities in affected regions through the restoration of hospital infrastructure and refurbishment of ICT facilities in schools, in collaboration with relevant authorities.
The commitment was formalized at a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office, attended by PM Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne, senior Government officials and representatives of Dialog. Discussions focused on a collaborative framework for implementing the proposed initiatives in line with national priorities.
In healthcare, Dialog will partner with the Ministry of Health to restore and upgrade infrastructure at Chilaw District General Hospital, Divisional Hospitals Kotmale and Madulkele, and Base Hospital Puttalam. In education, Dialog will work with the Ministry of Education to refurbish computer laboratories in over 20 cyclone-affected schools, restoring ICT infrastructure and connectivity to support continued learning.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of public–private partnerships in disaster recovery, noting that Dialog’s contribution will help restore essential services, strengthen preparedness, and ensure digital access and learning continuity for affected students. Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that strengthening healthcare infrastructure is vital to ensuring uninterrupted care and improving resilience within the public health system.
Supun Weerasinghe, Director/Group CEO, Dialog said the initiative reflects the company’s focus on restoring critical healthcare services and rebuilding digital access for students, while supporting national recovery aligned with Government priorities.
Dialog supported over eight million customers during and after the cyclone by providing free voice, SMS, and data services, emergency broadband quotas, and access to selected TV channels.
