The Vision Care 109th Colombo Championship concluded, marking another milestone in Sri Lanka’s tennis history with outstanding performances across all categories. Vision Care reaffirmed its commitment to the development of sports as the Title Sponsor for this Grade A tennis tournament. Organized by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA), the championship drew the finest talent in Sri Lankan tennis, showcasing exceptional skill and competitive spirit throughout the event. Vision Care’s continued sponsorship for the tenth consecutive year underscores the company’s dedication to promoting sports and wellness in Sri Lanka, fostering a culture of athletic excellence and healthy competition.
The tournament, which spanned various categories from junior to veteran levels, concluded with exhilarating matches, celebrating the exceptional talent of Sri Lanka’s tennis players.
In the Under 12 categories, Revaan Amarasinghe triumphed in the Boys Singles, while Kiara Jayamanne claimed the Girls Singles title. Nevan Kannangara and Akeesha Silva emerged as champions in the Under 14 Boys and Girls Singles. In the Under 16 categories, Ganuka Fernando secured the Boys Singles title, with Yuhansa Peiris winning the Girls Singles. Lithium Jayabandu claimed the Under 18 titles in the Boy’s Singles and Hasali Gajaba in the Girl’s Singles. Among the veterans, Perumal Ganeshan, Samuel Balasinghe, and Robert Eardley Baptist emerged victorious in the Over 45, Over 55, and Over 65 Men’s Singles categories, respectively. In the open categories, Rukshika Wijesooriya and Zaidh Zihar were crowned champions in the Women’s and Men’s Singles, respectively, highlighting the impressive array of talent at this tournament.
