Dr. Dilip Abayasekera was elected as the 81” President of Toastmasters International at the organization’s 74th Annual International Convention recently. He will hold a one-year term and is the second non – American to be elected to this office.
An active toastmaster for 19 years, Dr. Abayasekera is a professional speaker, trainer and speech coach. His company, Speaker Services Unlimited helps people and organizations change for the better.
He serves as a Special Assistant to the President at Central Pennsylvania College and is an adjunct faculty member of Eastern University’s School of Professional Studies in the area of Managerial and Interpersonal Communications. Abayasekera attended Royal College, Colombo. He worked for 12 years as an Industrial Scientist before surrendering to his avocation – connecting with others through the power of the spoken word.
A firm believer in the power of the spoken word he states that “We help people gain the skills and confidence to be the best they can be in whatever they choose to do:’
His motto for his term in office is ‘Find Your Voice. Serve Your World: Dr. Abayasekera has a Ph.D., in Chemistry.
