Lanka Bell has begun the distribution of its 2006-07 telephone directory, through the company’s network of business offices islandwide.
The first copy of the 1426 page tome was presented to Kanchana Ratwatte, Director General, Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) by Suren Goonewardene, Managing Director, Lanka Bell.
Comprising a business and a residential section, the more than two inches thick volume is an important database, representing the second largest group of fixed line phone users in the country, the company said.
“With more than 500,000 active subscribers, the Lanka Bell user base now serves well over 10% of the country’s population,” Goonewardene said. “Lanka Bell’s reach continues to grow rapidly as we take our services to more rural areas, and this directory increases substantially in size and value each year.”
Designed to be more than just a collection of telephone numbers, the Lanka Bell directory is also a comprehensive user’s manual and has detailed information on tariffs, products and services and coverage, including a map.
