The National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), the premier training institute in Sri Lanka for Management and Information Technology, celebrated its 40th anniversary with the opening of a new wing at its NIBM Colombo premises. Piyasena Gamage, Minister of Vocational and Technical Training, and Basil Rajapaksa, Senior Presidential Advisor were chief guests during the occasion.
The new three-storey building was completed within a year’s time under the guidance of Dr E A Weerasinghe, Director General, NIBM, at a cost of Rs 200mn funded by NIBM. It features a 270-seat auditorium, computer laboratories, lecture halls, apartments and a cafeteria, and is expected to facili-tate its degree and diploma programme students. NIBM functions as a statutory body under the Ministry of Vocational and Technical Training.
