J M Wickramarachchi & Co, hosted the Auditory Habilitation Workshop aimed at ENT sugeons, speech pathologists, speech therapists, and audiologists at the BMICH recently.
The workshop was conducted by Warren Estabrooks, Director, Learning to Listen Foundation, North York General Hospital, Toronto, Canada. Eastbrooks works with Cochlear Ltd., Australia in Habilitating deaf people who can now hear to talk effectively and understand speech from others. After the workshop, he and his team conducted training sessions for local speech therapists and audiologists. They also asses the progress of the twenty odd Cochlear implant recipients in Sri Lanka to improve their quality of life.
The Chief Guest at the opening of the workshop was His Excellency Dr. Greg French, High Commission of Australia in Sri Lanka. Minister Susil Premajayanth graced the occasion as Guest of Honor.
