Defence Seminar 2012 sought to disseminate the experiences of the Sri Lanka Army in their post conflict work, which focuses on the 5R – Reconstruction, Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Reintegration and Reconciliation under the theme ‘Towards Lasting Peace and Stability.” The Seminar provided a platform for candid discussion and generating ideas where all present agreed that Reconciliation is the more time consuming and difficult process. Sri Lanka as the only country in the world to defeat terrorism in the 21st Century had much to share on post conflict processes where the Sri Lanka Army has contributed to the rapid shift from the initial response and transition phase to the sustainable development phase. Speakers at the Seminar included eminent personnel from Sri Lanka, India, USA and UK. The three-day Seminar was attended by 116 foreign delegates of 44 countries.
