The Hatton National Bank commemorated 120 years of service since its inception as Hatton Bank with the ceremonious cancellation of a commemorative cover on February 25, 2009 at the HNB Towers. The commemorative cover was especially designed under the patronage of Mahinda Wijesekara, Minister of Posts and Telecommunication and the Postmaster General. The first day cover was ceremoniously cancelled in the distinguished presence of Minister Mahinda Wijesekara, Rienzie T Wijethilake, Chairman HNB, Rajaendra Theagarajah, CEO/Managing Director HNB and M K B Dissanayake, Postmaster General. Addressing the gathering the chief guest at the occasion Minister Mahinda Wijesekara commended the Hatton National Bank for its vision and courage. K G Leelananda, Secretary of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication, J M D N Asneesan, Director Philatelic Buren, Pamela Cooray, Director HNB, Ranjeevan Seevaratnam, Director HNB, M V Theagarajah, Director HNB, also graced the ceremony.
