Cod Bay to get a new cement plant

Fuji Cement Company(Lanka) Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Cement (Lanka) Ltd., signed an agreement with the BOI last week to set up a cement plant to meet the short supply of this essential construction material. The plant costing an estimated Rs 679 million will be built at Cod Bay in Trincomalee and generate 153 direct jobs and indirectly more than 500 jobs.
