Bank of Ceylon (BOC), celebrated 80 years in operation as an established and an innovative bank. The ceremony was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Karu Jayasuriya, Speaker of the Parliament. Considered among the topmost contributors towards the economic and social development of the country, BOC commemorated its long journey of serving the nation. President Maithripala Sirisena said, “It is right to say that Bank of Ceylon gives life to the Government and many Government Institutions. Therefore, BOC sustains the country as a profityielding institution, helping uphold the lives and lifestyles of every tier of Sri Lanka’s citizenship.” Over eight decades, BOC has dominated the Sri Lankan banking landscape at different levels. It is involved in uplifting every socio-economic stratum by comprehensively pervading the everyday life of Sri Lankans. BOC is also a significant contributor to economic and social development by fostering good Governance and ensuring banking services are available in the country. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stated, “With the financial prowess that BOC possesses, it can help Sri Lanka aspire to become one of the financial centers in the region, in a few years.
