Bank of Ceylon, celebrated its 75th milestone in 2014. As part of the 75th Anniversary celebrations, the Bank organised an anniversary walk from Viharamahadevi Park to BOC Head Office. In line with the main event at the head office, all provinces together with the BOC branch network organised similar walks to mark the 75th Anniversary. The walk was organised with the patronage of Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, Chairman – BOC and D M Gunasekara, General Manager – BOC. Customers, other stakeholders and well wishers of the bank joined hands with the employees of the Bank in the walk. Family members of the Bank’s staff also joined in the anniversary walk making the headcount exceed 1,000 and their enthusiastic contribution added more strength demonstrating solidarity and the bond they have with the bank. The walk was made colourful with motorcycle rider group, decorated Colombo City rider double-decor buses, musical bands and traditional dances.
When the walk reached the Head Office, Chairman and the General Manager along with the staff released balloons attached with Gift vouchers. The Bank wishes to remind lucky winners of these gift vouchers to produce them to the nearest BOC branch and collect their prizes.
Apart from the walk, Bank of Ceylon organised several other events in line with its 75th anniversary celebrations, such as the bicycle race, art competition for Ran Kekulu account holders and a tree planting campaign.
