Bank of Ceylon launched the ‘BOC Multi-Currency Travel Card’ jointly with MasterCard International. The card is uploaded upfront before the start of the foreign tour and is accepted around the world to assist travelers to conduct their transactions seamlessly.
It can be used at ATMs, POS and for online transactions where ‘MasterCard’ acceptance mark is present. The card holder can enjoy dining, shopping and traveling whilst abroad or use the card at Duty-free shopping outlets in Sri Lanka.
The BOC Travel Card comes with a secured EMV complaint chip that keeps the card information secure whilst using it in places where there could be a possible identification theft and keep the traveler informed about any transactions via an SMS or email. In addition to that, the owner of the card is offered a free Travel Insurance cover up to 250,000 US dollars.
D P K Gunasekera, Deputy General Manager Treasury, International and Investment, BOC said, “The Bank of Ceylon introduced the BOC MultiCurrency Travel Card that offers the convenience and safety of carrying multiple currencies in one digital card, allowing the customer to travel overseas freely and transact with confidence at a lower expense than having to bear currency exchange loss,” commented.
One card can be loaded up to five currencies including: US Dollars, GB Pounds, JP Yen, Euro and Australlian Dollars at the initial stage and will eventually accommodate New Zealand Dollars, Singapore Dollars and Canadian Dollars in near future.
The cardholder can switch the card funds from one currency to another via card holder selfcare portal. Reloading facility is available during the validity of the card
