Bank of Ceylon conducted its annual ceremony of laying clean white sand at the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Meda Maluwa and Pahala Maluwa with the guidance of the Most Venerable Dr Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero, Atamasthanadipathi of Anuradhapura, together with Ranjith Welikannage, Assistant General Manager North Central Province and his team.

This ceremony takes place annually with the participation of members of the Bank’s staff and many other Buddhist devotees coming from all parts of the country. The most sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is considered the world’s oldest historically re- corded significant tree.
