In this day and age, the disparity among the generations are broader with latest trends and developments in the technological world, thus Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) embarked on a journey to bring these generations closer together through ‘SLT e-Senior Programme’ as a steppingstone of their Corporate Social Responsibility program.
The workshop was designed to overcome issues that senior citizens face with daily activities due to the rapid enhancements in digitization globally. The program was conducted with the participation of a considerable gathering including retired elders. SLT places utmost importance in the development of its surrounding community as the national ICT services provider when designing policies for its network and infrastructure developments. Hence as a part of SLT’s CSR program, SLT is committed to bridging the digital divide by enhancing accessibility and affordability of ICT technologies and services to every citizen of the country. The workshop imparted the know-how of the use of internet along with e-services available in Sri Lanka to its participants in a simple manner comprising useful links and helpful tips making ICT communications much closer to the older generations.
It enhanced the wellbeing and independence of the elderly population by making them a bit more tech savvy and bring the aged population closer to the new technologies, which helped these citizens understand and relate with the tech savvy new generations.
