The Bank of Ceylon (BOC) is inviting applications for the ‘Nanajaya’ Scholarship to nurture future leaders. This flagship program is available to 18 Plus account holders who excelled in the 2023 GCE Advanced Level examination. The initiative aligns with the Bank’s 85th anniversary celebrations.
Initially launched in 2003 as the “18 Plus Scholarship” and rebranded as ‘Nanajaya’ in 2016, the program has consistently provided financial support to outstanding students. It inspires them to pursue academic excellence and contribute to national development. Since its inception, the program has awarded scholarships to 3,148 students, amounting to 139.54 million rupees.
For 2023, scholarships will be distributed under two categories: Merit Scholarships will be awarded to the top 84 performers island-wide across all A/L streams. Each recipient will receive a financial stipend of 120,000 rupees, disbursed over four years of academic study. General Scholarships will be granted to 300 district-wise top scorers across all A/L streams. Each recipient will receive 72,000 rupees, disbursed over the first three years of their academic journey.
Applicants must have achieved exceptional results in the 2023 GCE A/L examination and maintain an active 18 Plus or 18 Plus SmartGen account with the stipulated minimum balance. The program is open to students from all A/L streams, including biological sciences, physical sciences, commerce, arts, biosystem technology, and engineering technology.
