Kavan Rathnayaka assuming duties as its Chairman of Bank Of Ceylon.
Kavan Ratnayaka, a distinguished public and private sector official, has assumed the role of Chairman at the Bank of Ceylon (BOC) as of March 14, 2024. He has taken over from Ronald C. Perera (PC), who served as Chairman of the bank since January 2023. Ratnayaka brings with him extensive experience in a wide range of industries, including finance, banking, telecommunications, technology, tourism, and media. Ratnayaka is currently on the Board of KBSL and Agility Innovations and is a Trustee of the Jayam Wijeratnam Trust and the Dialog Foundation. He has also held several high-level positions in the past, such as Chairman of the National Development Bank (NDB), Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), Chairman of The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), and Chairman and Managing Director of Associated Newspapers of Ceylon (ANCL). Furthermore, he served as the Group Chief Corporate Officer of Cargills Ceylon, the Group Chief Corporate Officer of Dialog Axiata, the Chief Executive Officer of Dialog Broadband Networks (DBN), and IBM Sri Lanka’s Country General Manager. Ratnayaka has also been an active member of business organizations, such as the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), the Employers Federation of Ceylon (EFC), and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), where he served as President. Ratnayaka holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics) from the University of California, Riverside Campus, and is an alumnus of Royal College.
